As easy as it gets

Soak (recommended): before washing, place Hexawash in water or the soak programme for 15 minutes – this improves the result. For strong odours, soak the laundry along with it.
Into the drum: simply place Hexawash with your laundry.
Wash as usual: choose any programme – cold or warm, the result stays the same. Cold saves extra energy.
Hang up: let Hexawash dry with your laundry after washing – ready for the next round.

Care and important notes

Hang up to dry between washes – air drying is best.
The tumble dryer does not harm the washing effect, but is less gentle on the canvas pouch than air drying.
When is it used up? New, Hexawash weighs about 150 g. If the pouch weighs less than 80 g, the magnesium is used up.
A nearly used-up Hexawash can simply keep working alongside a new one.

How does Hexawash work?

The pouch is filled with magnesium pellets. In water, magnesium reacts to form magnesium hydroxide and creates an alkaline solution with a pH of 10.5 – the ideal level for washing laundry. This releases dirt, oil and odours from the fibres, which are then simply rinsed away.

Does the laundry really get clean – entirely without detergent?

Yes. The raised pH does exactly what surfactants would otherwise do: it releases dirt and grease from the fibres. Your laundry comes out of the machine clean, fresh and scent-neutral – without chemical residues.

How long does one Hexawash last?

Over 300 wash cycles – around a year for most households. You can tell it's finished by the weight: new, the pouch weighs about 150 g; below 80 g, the magnesium is used up.

What do I do with the pouch at the end?

Simply bury it in the garden: the organic cotton decomposes, and the remaining magnesium fertilises the soil. Alternatively, you can keep using it alongside a new Hexawash.

Is Hexawash suitable for allergy sufferers and babies?

What does the laundry smell like afterwards?

Does it work with cold water and hard water?

Yes, at any temperature and any water hardness. A cold wash is just as effective as a warm one – and saves extra electricity.

Can the pouch go in the tumble dryer?

Yes, this harms neither the washing effect nor the dryer. For the longest possible life of the canvas pouch, however, we recommend air drying.
