Many people know loofah from the bathroom – at the kitchen sink, the plant shows what it can really do: its sponge-like texture with a slightly rough surface dissolves grease and burnt-on residues thoroughly, while staying gentle on dishes, pots and pans. What is loofah?

Loofah is a plant from the gourd family. When dried, its fibrous interior remains – a naturally sponge-like material. Our loofah comes from Thailand and is combined with 100 % GOTS-certified organic cotton; the fabrics are offcuts from our beeswax wrap production.

A project close to our hearts: the sponges are crafted together with the One Sky Foundation, which supports displaced women and families from Myanmar. Your purchase does more than just clean.

Will the sponge scratch my dishes?

No – the loofah fibres are hard-wearing but softer than metal or hard plastic scrubbers. They clean thoroughly without damaging dishes, pots or coatings.

What is loofah, actually?

A plant from the gourd family: its dried, fibrous interior is a natural sponge – entirely without plastic. Our loofah grows in Thailand.

How do I care for the sponge?

Rinse well after every use and let it air-dry – loofah dries quickly and is then immediately ready to go again.

How long does a sponge last?

With good care, about two months. After that, it can go entirely into your home compost or organic waste bin – it is fully biodegradable.

Who makes the sponges?

They are made by hand in partnership with the One Sky Foundation, which supports displaced women and families from Myanmar.

Can I choose a design?
